Ethnography Executive Report

Lisa - Last Post

I think this project is awesomely complicated :) Even though we've spent A LOT of time working on this project, it is worth our effort because it helped us know more about the AIS community and how we as students should contribute to that. Especially, I love working with Linda. She's very creative and responsible for every piece of work. I also want to send my thanks to AIS members who have helped us fill out our super long survey - they've been very detailed and empathic for what we have been doing. In brief, what I've learnt from the project is that we should be who we are; we should love ourselves so that we can focus on improving us, making us the best out of every day.

Hello, I’m Tom. In this ethnography project I helped Zack to interview and find facts about American International School (history, rewards, data, information and interesting facts). I think that this project is very good because it’s fun and I have a chance to meet new people in my school, know about them more, and what they think about AIS students, and more... But I have a lot of projects coming on and this project is not easy, so I don’t want to do this again anymore.

I’m a bad writer so I’m out of ideas again. THE END!

I’m Zack and this is my reflection about my ethnography project. My job was to interview the staffs and securities. I met and talked to people that I did not usually talk with. I also learned some new things about them like they really like to work with our foreigner teachers. They like the new environment in our school and also experience new jobs. This project is helpful but it is also really complicated. The range and information are huge. I don’t think I want to face it again.

Linda - First & Last Post :P

Hey yo guys, wassup?! I know I was supposed to write a long time ago, but you know, I have been very busy with all the projects we had and all the interviews, blah blah blah! I had taken a lot and lot of pictures. I interviewed many and many students.

I interviewed Josh and Celine in grade 6; Sofia, Anh Nguyen, Long and Sally in grade 7; Minami, Onica, David and Vivi in grade 8. I asked them about where they come from; how have being a part of AIS changed them; why do they go to school; is it important to be yourself? Why? Who are they as a person? And some more questions. Each of them I asked different questions depending on their personality.

But until yesterday, I figured out that my memory card had been broken. I gave my camera to Lisa so she could take the videos that I took and put them all together with hers. But when she plugged the memory card to the computer, the computer couldn’t read the card. Lisa tried every way to fix it – she called the IT guy, she brought the camera to a shop to fix it, but it was hopeless. The memory card had been broken and all the pictures, videos that I took – are all gone!

But no worries! Lisa and I thought of a new idea right away. We decided to interview others online and it would also show that we use technology to study. So today and yesterday’s night, I had to interview Onica, Vivi in grade 8 and T.V. in grade 7 online. I interviewed Onica by skype, Vivi by yahoo and T.V. by ooVoo. I asked them mostly the same questions that I asked before.

This project is very big and tired but also a very fun project to do. I have been taught so much more about AIS, my friends, the teachers from this project. I have learned so many new ideas and way to present the presentation from Lisa.

THANK YOU LISA! I LOVE YOU!
